Governor asked to create on the island an Attorneys General Office anti Criminal Gang to stop impunity against killings

The Departmental Governor, Aury Guerrero Bowie, after the violent events that took place last month that left one person dead, one wounded, and a vehicle that was shot made a strong statement in which the Governor ask to reevaluate the investigation process of the Insular Territory.

“Right now we are determine to ask the Attorneys General Office (Fiscalia) to establish an anti Criminal Gang (With its acronym in Spanish Bacrim) in San Andres because we are seeing that the situation occurs frequently and we know that our law enforcement do not have the necessary tools to act immediately,” said Aury Guerrero Bowie.

The Governor told the press, as an example, that due of the perception of insecurity that these events generates, the community prefers to stay in their homes to avoid being in the midst of an confrontation which means that the islands are virtually on a curfew.

“It is necessary that the component of intelligence and investigation, will lead us to a clear determination of who are the ones committing acts of killings because the community, apart from the violence, rejects impunity. The fact that you don´t know who did the act and that a hired killer cannot be captured on an island of 27 square kilometers,” said the Governor.

Governor Aury Guerrero Bowie said that it is a contradiction that while they are reevaluating the OCCRE´s Office, in the Department, Criminal Gangs are forming and training islanders young people to be criminals.

Finally, I invite the community not to remain silent. “The important thing is to denounce all acts that attempts against the integrity of the inhabitants and against the peace of the islands. It is important that we take a stand to denounce these criminal acts,” said Guerrero Bowie.
