Special and Organic Waste
WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE COMMUNITY, THE SECRETARIAT OF PUBLIC SERVICES AND ENVIRONMENT STARTED THE COLLECTION OF SPECIAL, ORGANIC AND VEGETATION WASTE CAMPAIGN
* The campaign taking place in different neighborhoods of the island, started from 6:00 a.m.
* The technical team of the Secretariat, together with the Community Action Boards, the Environmental Health Group and the Government Environmental Component, lead this initiative.
* Special elements were taken to ‘Green Point’ while organic waste and vegetation were disposed at the ‘Magic Garden’ landfill.
The neighborhoods of Corales, Morris Landing and Cesar Gaviria or Tablitas, are the following scheduled to carry out the collection campaign of special waste which is organized by the Secretariat of Public Services and Environment.
With regards to the start of the activity, the rain was not an impediment for the community of the neighborhoods of Barker, Simpson Well and Cliff to fulfill the first collection campaign of special waste, organic and vegetation, within the framework of the provisional reopening of 'Green Point' only for the operation of the Departmental Government.
From 7:00 a.m., the five trucks that are available for the Secretariat began their activities, collecting items such as junk materials, refrigerators, washing machines, tables, microwaves, old furniture, waste, among other materials that were disposed both at 'Green Point 'as well as at the Magic Garden Landfill.
“The organization of the elements was made right here in the area. I have to highlight the help and disposition of the community and the 'SoyLegal' group of the Government Secretariat, who, despite of the rain, took out their elements that are no longer in use,” said the Secretary of Public Services and Environment, Johan Mancilla Fayllace.
With this campaign, we gave start to the scheduled collections that are programmed every weekend in various sectors and critical areas of the island.
“We already have several neighborhoods scheduled for collections. Among the sectors are: Los Corales, Morris Landing, Cesar Gaviria or Tablitas, among others. It should be noted that the neighborhoods are being programmed, are complying by approaching the Secretariat of Public Services and Environment and fill out the form. Also, during the week, we have been making collections in public spaces, roads and streets, together with the weekend’s campaign,” added the Secretary.
We have to remeber, if members of the community or presidents of Community Action Boards want the activity to be carried out in their neighborhoods, they must fill out a form which is available at the Secretariat of Public Services and Environment.
